DTE Releases Engineering Admissions Schedule - CAP Round 1 Schedule

DTE - Directorate of Technical Education release the schedule for the Centralized Admission Process CAP Round-1 Schedule for Engineering Admissions in Maharashtra

The Mumbai-based directorate of technical education (DTE) has announced the schedule for engineering admissions in 309 colleges in 35 districts of Maharashtra. The admissions would be conducted in multiple rounds through centralized admission process (CAP).

The online submission of application forms will start from June 21 and will continue till June 29. The forms would be available on the department's website or at any of the designated application form receipt centres (ARCs). The document verification and confirmation of forms would be done at notified ARCs in the same period.

The candidates have been asked to correctly fill up all details online, including percentage obtained in class X and XII along with score of MHT-CET and AIEEE, if appeared. After completing the formalities, they'll receive an application ID and password.

Students will then submit photocopies of class X and XII results along with MHT-CET and AIEEE scorecards at any of the ARCs that will remain open even on holidays between 11am to 5pm. After scrutiny of originals at ARCs, candidates have to fill up their personal information in the form. Finally, candidates will receive acknowledgement-cum-receipt duly signed by DTE officials.

The directorate will first release provisional merit list on June 30 followed by final merit list on July 4 on the website. Anticipating rush for admissions, the directorate has increased the number of ARCs in all regions. For Nagpur division, comprising six districts, there will be 18 ARCs as compared to 12 last year.

As per DTE officials, the brochure containing information of colleges and number of seats available would be released after July first week, once new engineering colleges are finalized. In Maharashtra, over 5,000 new engineering seats are slated to be approved after AICTE's final approval. Around 20 new colleges are slated to open in the state after getting the apex engineering body's green signal.

Additionally, many colleges have also applied for enhancing their existing capacities with the AICTE. Presently, over 1.14 lakh seats are up for grabs.

This year 2,54,208 students appeared for the State Engineering Entrance Examination (SEEE) as compared to 2,49,052 last year. However, over 22,000 seats were vacant last year, of which 6,000 were in Nagpur University alone.
